About us

What Finsbury Park Trust is all about

The Finsbury Park Trust is a charity which supports and responds to community need in order to improve the lives of all people in Finsbury Park, a very diverse area on North London on the edge of three boroughs – Islington, Haringey and Hackney.

We provide activities and work with partners to promote wellbeing. We also offer low-cost office space in our buildings on Seven Sisters Road, right next to Finsbury Park station. Our shared building is home to a variety of community organisations and we hire out meeting rooms.

We help local people get their voice heard to promote improvements to the local environment, and bring together the three borough councils of Hackney, Haringey and Islington to share solutions with local residents and businesses.

We welcome volunteers to help us carry out our work and be involved in our community.

Who we are

The Trust is a community organisation

Finsbury Park Trust is a registered charity and company limited by guarantee. We are managed by a Board of Trustees. We are committed to the improvement of the lives of people living in the Finsbury Park area of North London who need our help.

We own our centrally-located building on Seven Sisters Road, right next to Finsbury Park station, and provide low-cost office space at affordable rents to small charities who in turn offer support and advocacy services to the local community. We facilitate communication between community organisations based at the Centre to add value to the services they deliver and foster partnership working.

We hire out our two meeting rooms and fully equipped kitchen for community activities.

Finsbury Park Trust’s Current Initiatives

  • Low cost office space for charities and not for profit organisations.
  • Room and kitchen hire for meetings, events, training, presentations and discussion groups.
  • Activities which help vulnerable local people meet together, share food, reduce isolation and improve their wellbeing.
  • Support for local regeneration initiatives.

Our History

Our independent charity is located in a busy part of North London right on the edge of three Boroughs. In April 1999 Islington, Hackney and Haringey came together to make an application to the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) for funding to regenerate the area. The SRB application was successful, the Finsbury Park Partnership was formed and work on delivering the SRB objectives began.

Finsbury Park Trust was set up in 2002 to take on the work of the Finsbury Park Partnership, which managed the seven-year regeneration programme for the local neighbourhood. The community-led regeneration of Finsbury Park established a diverse yet united and sustainable neighbourhood, one in which individuals and families and businesses have the skills and confidence to achieve their full potential, supported by joined-up local governance.

Originally envisaged as a tri-borough regeneration agency the charity now continues to promote improvements in the quality of life for everyone who lives or works in Finsbury Park. We work in partnership with other organisations and the local councils so that we can effect greater change and support vulnerable local people.

Trustees
